Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been signed up for the Hong Kong Sixes, set to begin on November 7. This will be Ashwin’s first tournament since announcing his retirement from the IPL back in August.
The 39-year-old, one of India’s finest match-winners across formats, brings depth, experience, and star value — not just to Team India, but to the high-octane tournament itself. The Hong Kong Sixes will feature 12 teams, with the rest of the Indian squad to be announced soon, organisers confirmed.

Burji Shroff Welcomes Ashwin, Says His Presence Elevates Hong Kong Sixes 2025
Burji Shroff, Chairperson of Hong Kong Cricket, made the official announcement about Ashwin joining the Indian team for the tournament.

Ashwin Excited About HK Sixes Challenge and Strategic Play
Reacting to the news, Ashwin said he was thrilled to finally be part of a format he had long admired. Ashwin being Ashwin also hinted at how strategy will play a key role in the team’s approach.
"We’ve all watched the HK Sixes as youngsters on television, and it’s always been an exciting format I wanted to be part of. This version of the game requires a different strategy and will definitely be high-octane. I'm looking forward to playing alongside some of my former teammates. I'm also excited to face some top-quality players in the opposition — it’ll be a great challenge for us," Ashwin said.

The six-a-side tournament will be held from November 7 to 9. Along with hosts Hong Kong and India, teams like South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Australia are expected to participate, with 12 teams in total. The full squads are expected to be announced soon.
