India & Bangladesh have made positive starts to their Super Fours campaigns in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 tournament in the UAE, but the race to the final is still wide open, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka also in with a chance. Defending champions India extended their one-sided rivalry with arch-rivals Pakistan by beating them by six wickets on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai. Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in the opening Super Four match.
The results have seen India and Bangladesh leading the Super Four points table with two points each. However, India holds an edge with a powerful net run rate of +0.689, while Bangladesh sits in the second position with +0.121. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are yet to open their accounts, but still, four games left, both are not just out of the final contention for a spot in the summit clash on September 28 in Dubai.

For Pakistan, the task is simple: They must win their next two matches against Sri Lanka on Tuesday and then later Bangladesh on Thursday. Two victories would give the Men In Green four points, potentially setting up another clash with arch-rivals India next Sunday. If Pakistan defeats Sri Lanka on Tuesday, the Island nation will be knocked out of the Continental Cup.

India set to play Asia Cup 2025 final due to rich vein of form
Notably, table-toppers India and Bangladesh are set to clash on Wednesday, September 24, and given the Suryakumar Yadav-led side's dominant form, they are set to continue their unbeaten record in Asia Cup and book a spot in the final. That would leave Pakistan needing to beat Bangladesh in their last Super Four fixture on Thursday - effectively turning into a virtual semi-final clash. In such a scenario, the final Super Four clash between India and Sri Lanka will carry very little significance in terms of qualification for the summit clash.

Should this scenario unfold, fans would expect three consecutive weeks of India vs Pakistan clashes, for the first time happening in the Asia Cup tournament. However, with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh showing good form, Pakistan reaching the final seems a far-fetched thought at the moment.
